Waxing FAQs

Who can get a Brazilian?

I only do intimate waxing (see intimate waxing section under “services”) on people with vulvas. Waxing above the waistband and below the glutes can be performed on all bodies!

How long does my hair need to be to get waxed?

For body waxing, it is recommended for hair to be at least 1/4 of an inch long, or about the size of a grain of rice. Most people are fine to come in after a minimum of 2 weeks without shaving.

Eyebrow and lip hair can be a little bit shorter, but the closer to the 1/4 inch mark the better.

If your hair is too short, I will have to reschedule your appointment as I won’t be able to provide the best service for you.

What should I do to prepare for a wax?

-Gently exfoliate the area with a physical exfoliator such as a shower glove or dry brush. This will buff away dry skin and release hairs trapped just below the surface of the skin

-DO NOT use chemical exfoliants or retinoids on the area for at least a week prior to your wax appointment (see “contraindications” page)

-Avoid excess sun exposure as I cannot wax you if you’re sunburnt

What is the aftercare for waxing?

For the first 24 hours:

-Avoid touching the area

-Do not exfoliate the area

-Avoid heavily sweating (no heavy exercise/sitting out in the sun)

-Avoid direct sun exposure

-Avoid makeup/lotions/deodorant as they can cause irritation

-(For intimate waxing) Do not have sex as fluids can get into open follicles and cause irritation

After 2-3 Days:

-Start moisturizing the waxed area. The area can be moisturized every day. This keeps the skin soft so hair can grow through. I recommend a non pore clogging oil or an unscented face moisturizer.

-Gently exfoliate the area. For the face, use a physical exfoliator such as a silicone scrubber, rotary brush, or a product with very fine granules. For all other areas, shower gloves or a dry brush can be used with your regular body wash. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Exfoliation buffs the dead skin away to prevent ingrown hairs getting trapped under the skin.

When will I need waxed again?

Most people can come in every 4-6 weeks depending on how fast their hair grows. I will recommend a schedule to you according to your needs.

What is a lash lift?

Lash lifts are a semi permanent lash curling service. Modeled after perms, I use similar products and procedures to enhance the shape of the lashes, giving the affect of more length and volume.

How long will a lash lift last?

Your lash lift will last as long as it takes for your lashes to fall out and grow back, which takes about 4-6 weeks.

How often can I get a lash lift?

I recommend waiting until your lashes are fully grown out again before getting another lift so that your lashes do not get over processed. This is usually a minimum of 6 weeks after your last lash lift.

What do I need to do before my lash lift?

Before your appointment, I ask that you please remove all of your eye makeup. You will also need to remove your contacts if you are wearing them. Wash your lashes with a mild soap to remove any natural oils that can build up.

I also recommend you to have been in brighter lights before your appointment

so the overhead light doesn’t make your eyes water.

What should I do after my lash lift?

It’s a common myth that you are not to get your lashes wet after a lash lift. I recommend not getting them wet for 4 hours after your lash lift to give the hydrating serum applied at the end of the service time to soak into your lashes, not because of the water itself. Water will not effect the quality of your lash lift, but we recommend avoiding heavy manipulation of your lashes. If you are a stomach sleeper, you will need to switch to sleeping on your back for a few days after your lash lift. Your lashes can still be bent and manipulated for a few days after your lift, so it is very important to not sleep directly on them or aggressively rub your eyes without combing your lashes afterwards.

I also recommend using a hydrating serum on your lashes twice a day to keep them healthy between lifts. Your lashes are processed during a lift which damages them. Like the hair on your head, it’s important to condition your lashes regularly.

What is a lash/brow tint?

A lash/brow tint is a semi-permanent dye that darkens the lashes and brows. I cannot lighten brows and I do not offer brow bleaching.

How long will a lash/brow tint last?

A tint will last on the hair for about 4-6 weeks.

Will the brow tint stain my skin?

The tint used will stain the skin only for a few days. This is a great service to get before an event, but don’t expect the tint to be around for more than a few days.

What is a vajacial?

A vajacial (va-jay-shull) is like a facial for your Brazilian/bikini area! I use products that are safe for this area as well.

What vajacial should I get?

Basic Vajacial:

  • great for first time Brazilian wax clients as it helps to cool down and soothe the skin after getting waxed.

  • Includes light steam, ingrown hair extractions, a treatment mask, cooling jelly mask, and a finishing oil.

Deluxe Vajacial:

  • Geared towards those who have more problems with ingrown hairs. It’s performed 1-2 weeks post Brazilian wax since the skin needs time to calm down so I’m not over exfoliating the area.

  • Includes light steam, cleanser, exfoliator, ingrown hair extractions, treatment mask, cooling jelly mask, high frequency, cooling ice globes, and finishing oil.
